AGE-WELL and MEDTEQ+ are pleased to welcome <\/span>KITE Research Institute<\/span><\/a> at the University Health Network, <\/span>the <\/span>McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA)<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Centre de recherche en gestion des services de sant\u00e9 (CRGSS) \u2014 FSA Universit\u00e9 Laval<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> as Beachheads. <\/span>These <\/span>centres <\/span>join envisAGE, <\/span>a pan-Canadian initiative fostering quality aging through technological innovation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As <\/span>envisAGE Beachheads<\/span><\/a>, KITE, MIRA and CRGSS will share their expertise in measurement and evaluation of new technologies with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have been selected for funding as part of collaborative projects. Beachheads <\/span>measure the effectiveness of SMEs\u2019 technologies in Community Labs \u2013 real-world settings that support older adults and caregivers, including long-term care facilities, retirement communities and homes.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to welcome KITE, MIRA and CRGSS to the envisAGE initiative dedicated to fostering commercial pathways for Canadian AgeTech and meaningful outcomes for older adults and caregivers,\u201d said Sabrina Boutin, Vice-President\u202fMEDTEQ+ and Executive Director of envisAGE.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe expertise Beachheads provide is essential to support SMEs in advancing AgeTech solutions that meet the needs of older adults, caregivers, health and community service providers,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n About <\/span><\/b>KITE Research Institute<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>KITE Research Institute<\/span><\/a> at the <\/span>University Health Network<\/span><\/a> is a leading rehabilitation health-research facility dedicated to improving the lives of people in our communities who are living with the effects of disability, illness and aging. KITE\u2019s areas of focus include injury prevention, restoration of function, independent living and community integration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n KITE provides validation and testing of assistive devices, mobility products and technologies for health, rehabilitation and aging. This includes neuroprosthetics, rehabilitation robotics, artificial intelligence for robotics, human-centred design and smart garments for health care.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe KITE Research Institute is thrilled to join envisAGE and contribute to this important initiative. The CRGSS brings together a team of academic researchers from eight faculties at Universit\u00e9 Laval involved in various projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Each project mobilizes university researchers, healthcare professionals, decision-makers and patient partners, with the aim of improving the quality, safety and accessibility of care and services. By combining their expertise and skills, researchers tackle the decision-making challenges facing healthcare managers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe CRGSS team is excited to join the envisAGE ecosystem to contribute to the evaluation and integration of innovative technologies that will improve the quality of life of older adults and caregivers.
