2025 Forum

The 2025 envisAGE Forum, themed Visionaries: Advancing AgeTech, Together, brought more than 360 participants from across Canada and abroad to explore the future of AgeTech innovation. The event provided a unique space for open discussion, collaboration, and showcasing transformative solutions designed to improve the lives of older adults and caregivers.

Forum Highlights
Hosted by Annie-Soleil Proteau, the day began with a look at caregiving and the importance of co-creating with seniors to develop relevant health technologies. Created with input from our network and partners, the Forum offered a thoughtfully curated program designed to address the key challenges and opportunities in AgeTech innovation. Jean-Marie Lapointe kicked off the Forum with an inspiring keynote about his experiences as a caregiver and the critical need for innovation in caregiving spaces. He later joined Helene Meunier and Dr. Hoang Duong of the FMSQ Foundation for a live recording of Lucilab’s The Strength of Age Podcast, exploring how digital health solutions are transforming care.

Sessions and panels explored future-focused topics like transforming living and care environments for older adults, fostering sustainability, and scaling impactful solutions. The participants, the majority of whom were innovators, SMEs and researchers, were also able to deepen their knowledge hearing from experts on topics such as intellectual property, financing models, and global collaboration. Many older adults and caregivers were present to enrich the discussions and contribute relevant insights from a user perspective. In addition, members of AGE-WELL’s Older Adults and Caregivers Committee also led the workshop Co-creating the Future: Integrating Real-Life Experiences into AgeTech Innovation and actively contributed to the discussions.

New for 2025, six interactive workshops provided hands-on learning opportunities, helping SMEs refine market strategies, explore evidence-driven development approaches, and strengthen their implementation frameworks.
The Fueling AgeTech Innovation session offered an interactive “market-style” networking opportunity for attendees to share their ideas and engage with funders across Canada.

Celebrating Key Milestones
With envisAGE reaching important milestones and AGE-WELL celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Forum illustrated how far Canada’s AgeTech ecosystem has come and underscored the path forward for scaling solutions nationwide.

Over the past years, the envisAGE initiative, co-led by MEDTEQ+ and AGE-WELL, has successfully mobilized a rich network comprising five Innovation Hubs, nine Beachheads and dozens of companies and Community Labs across the country with funding from the Government of Canada’s Strategic Innovation Fund and additional contributions from the Government of Quebec.

At the Forum, the FMSQ Foundation also announced that it will join the AgeTech movement by providing additional financial support for eligible Quebec-based companies that will focus on caregivers as part of the upcoming envisAGE Calls for Innovations.

With more than 35 AgeTech projects underway in communities across Canada, the envisAGE network keeps growing and we are eager to share the impacts.
