Innovation and Aging: envisAGE Brings Together the AgeTech Ecosystem at LTCAM 2026
Montreal, May 19, 2026 – On May 11th, the envisAGE network kicked off its 2026 National tour at the Long Term & Continuing Care Association of Manitoba (LTCAM) conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba. On this occasion, the envisage team met with regional innovation stakeholders to understand their realities and needs. They were accompanied by two innovative companies from the Canadian AgeTech ecosystem: Amical AI and GlobalDWS.
Alongside the conference, the team was able to speak with numerous stakeholders from the long-term care sector, older adult living communities, and the health technology and innovation sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to Canada’s aging population.
Co-led by MEDTEQ+ and AGE-WELL, the envisAGE initiative enables mature AgeTech innovations to be implemented and evaluated in real-world settings across Canada with the aim of accelerating their commercialization and adoption.
Participation in LTCAM helped highlight the key concerns and interests of the more than 150 people who visited the envisAGE booth throughout the event. Discussions with healthcare professionals, managers, innovators, and stakeholders in the long-term care sector revealed a strong interest in concrete solutions capable of addressing the growing challenges posed by an aging population
Among the most frequently discussed topics where care in remote areas, with several participants highlighting issues related to access to services, workforce shortages, and the need to deploy technologies that enable more effective remote support for older adults. Discussions also highlighted the importance of developing approaches that foster social connections to prevent isolation, particularly among older adults living alone or in underserved communities.
Artificial intelligence also sparked strong interest among booth visitors, who see it as a promising tool for supporting clinical teams, improving prevention, facilitating the early detection of certain high-risk situations, and optimizing the experience for patients and family caregivers. Several discussions focused on how AgeTech innovations can be integrated in a humane, ethical, and practical way into healthcare settings.
These conversations allowed envisAGE to better understand current needs on the ground while forging connections with partners and organizations sharing a common commitment to accelerating the adoption of innovations that serve seniors across Canada.
On the sidelines of the conference, envisAGE also hosted a networking and program presentation evening at the Victoria Inn and Conference Centre. The event brought together partners, innovators, healthcare organizations, and stakeholders from the AgeTech ecosystem for discussions aimed at fostering new pan-Canadian collaborations.
“This first stop on our national tour confirms the importance of coming together to identify the divergent and converging needs of Canada’s diverse communities. These discussions will serve as a foundation for expanding collaboration, building bridges between provinces, and, above all, understanding how technologies can be adapted to each community’s realities to create greater value. The discussions held in Winnipeg demonstrate the urgency of catalyzing solutions to meet the needs of seniors, caregivers, and frontline teams,” said Sabrina Boutin, Executive Director of envisAGE and Vice President, Strategy and Global Partnerships, MEDTEQ+
The envisAGE 2026 National Tour will continue and visit several Canadian provinces over the coming months to further develop strategic collaborations and support the emergence of innovative solutions for the aging sector.
The tour recently stopped in Saskatchewan on May 13 and 14, as part of Saskatchewan Innovation Week. Additional destinations will be announced soon; visit our website to find out where the tour is headed next: https://envis-age.ca/en/2026-national-tour/ .
