AGE-WELL and MEDTEQ+ Welcome NL Health Services as New Beachhead™ in the envisAGE Ecosystem
Montreal, Décember 16th , 2025 — AGE-WELL and MEDTEQ+ are pleased to welcome Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services as a new Beachhead™ in the envisAGE initiative. NL Health Services joins a pan-Canadian network dedicated to promoting the integration of technological innovations in real-world settings to improve the quality of life of older adults and caregivers. Beachheads measure the effectiveness of small and medium-enterprises’ technologies in community labs – real-world settings that support older adults and caregivers, including long-term care facilities, retirement communities and homes.
“We are pleased to join the envisAGE initiative as a new Beachhead™. This collaboration gives us a meaningful opportunity to help evaluate and bring new technologies into our long-term care homes, while also supporting innovative businesses here in Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada. At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to improving the lives of older adults and their families, and we are excited for what we can achieve together,” said Ron Johnson, vice president of Digital Health, Innovation and Research, Chief Information Officer (A) for NL Health Services.
The envisAGE network is a joint initiative led by AGE-WELL and MEDTEQ+ and created to propel Canada to the forefront of the AgeTech sector by supporting the commercialization of innovations and promoting quality aging across the country. The AgeTech market refers to the sector focused on developing technologies and innovations aimed at improving the quality of life for older adults.
As a Beachhead™, NL Health Services will support the evaluation and integration of technologies developed by small and medium-sized Canadian enterprises (SMEs) by measuring their effectiveness in real-world settings within their network. Rooted in the resilience, ingenuity, and community spirit that define Newfoundland and Labrador, NL Health Services stands as a uniquely authentic place for health innovation where local culture, creativity, and collaboration come together to shape solutions that truly reflect the people they serve.
“The Government of Canada is proud to support the integration of innovative technologies that enrich the lives of older Canadians and their families. Welcoming NL Health Services as the newest Beachhead™ in the envisAGE initiative reflects our commitment to fostering a strong, collaborative AgeTech ecosystem.
